Back to the daily grind

Whew! It was great having my parents here, but it's also nice to get back to a regular schedule. I know that they were ready to be home since they had been on and off the road for almost three weeks (by the time that they flew back to Oregon.) We had loads of fun while they were in Baltimore: they went to the Aquarium with mio marito, I went with them to Lancaster County (home of one of the largest communities of Amish) and to D.C. to see the International Spy Museum and the (finally!) finished WWII monument. In between we hung around the house and went out to eat and visited people or had people over to visit. My dad even helped me get some important projects done (a leaky faucet, the bulging tub wall -- although I had to finish up the tub wall on my own, since we started it on Sunday but couldn't quite finish it.) And we wouldn't have eaten a few nights if my parents hadn't help get dinner on the table. I still had to teach in the evenings, and that meant that I left at 5:30 p.m. and didn't get home until 8:45 p.m. or so. Kind of cuts into the dinner preparation time...

Still, I'm glad to be on a regular schedule. I'm exhausted and I think that I finally got a full nights sleep last night. My allergies started acting up on Sunday and made sleeping and breathing a bit of a challenge. Plus, we still can't take a shower or a bath because I'm waiting for the glue and caulking to dry on the tub wall, which means that I've been taking trips over to the Beavers' house to take showers. Thank goodness that they now live within 15 minutes drive! (Actually, about 11 minutes.) After 9:30 tonight, the tub will again be usable. Not very helpful for mio marito who has apparently been swimming in the pool in lieu of taking a shower before work... At least he's disinfected, what with all the chemicals in there. :)

So, I'm madly scrambling to catch up with my lesson plans (I discovered a major boo boo last night... sigh), with my sleep and with my job applications. By the way, I did accept the part-time teaching position. So, no matter what other job I do or do not find, I will have at least one teaching position still to put on my resume. I'm trying to get out letters this week to other universities and community colleges in Baltimore. BCCC finally posted, so I'm going to e-mail off (they requested the email) my letter and resume today. Wish me luck!
